We end off the the Top 10 Weirdest Kitchen Gadgets as featured in PC Mag with the Thermador Freedom T36IT70PNS Refrigerator. The great thing about this fridge is that it's shelves can be adjusted at the push of a button. If you've ever had to re-adjust a shelf in a fridge, you will remember that it's quite a mission to get the shelves to line up first time, so it usually requires a fair bit of tinkering before you get it right. The Thermador Freedom also has electronic sensors that will keep the fridge temperature constant.

Coming in at number nine is the Zero Gravity Magnetic Spice Rack. Once mounted on the wall, each spice canister magnetically attaches to the bottom or the top of the rack. Very nice idea if you're into spice racks…we're not too sure why it made it onto the Top 10 weirdest gadgets list though!?

Here's a trick you're going to have to master if owning a proper kitchen knife is your intention.
Question: How do you properly sharpen a pricey kitchen knife without damaging the thing?
…or read the step-by-step guide here.

So you've decided to grow up and buy yourself a proper kitchen blade.
It's a bold move for sure. Going from a plastic handled cheap wannabe knife to a big daddy with a sharpen steel edge that'll take your finger off in a pumping pulse beat is a daunting step.
You wouldn't drive an F1 car without proper training, so neither should you buy a kitchen knife without the proper user accreditation. So here are a couple of good pointers we've found on The Former Fat Guy's blog to bring you up to speed.
Question: How many knives do you need?
Your choice of knives will depend very much on the things you regularly cook. These 4 will cover the majority of uses :
- A large chopping knife for general chopping. [like the Global G-2]
- Serrated bread knife for bread and pastries. [for example the GS-13]
- Small vegetable knife for peeling. [you can use the GS-6 Paring knife]
- Filleting or boning knife for filleting fish and boning meat. [here's a good solution for that; it's the GF-31]
Personally, I use the first one (a large chopping knife) for most things. If you’re only looking to buy one, start here.
Deciding on which knife to buy..DONE.

Instead of standing around doing nothing while waiting for your roast to cook, the Digital Timer with Roasting Probe and removable Remote Beeper will now let you get to other important things like taking a shower and blow drying your hair. The removable remote beeper will alert you to when the meat is cooked (not to be confused with the ringing of your doorbell signalling the arrival of your guests!)
Pretty nifty.

How this? This stylishly looking food preparation studio was the outcome of a design collaboration between Porsche and luxury kitchen designer Poggenpohl.
The last thing we heard of a Poggenpohl designing, it had something to so with a braai and wors. Anyhow - this attempt looks far more pleasing on the eye.
The design is abundant with sleek and functional aluminum profiles and frames, glass, integrated lighting, and comes with your choice of driftwood or dark oak fronts to set off the other, more technical and steely materials. All of the doors incorporate innovative mechanisms that dispense with the need for handles - which is good if you're needing to load up more food while your hands are full.
Just imagine how radical a Kitchenaid blender or a Jamie Oliver pestle and mortar would look on that brushed aluminum.
